Japanese-themed garden for meditation & play
- garden renovation required in Bridge of Allan following large conservatory/deck extension (2011)
- ‘wow’ factor an essential criteria, along with opportunities for quiet meditation & occasional young childrens’ play (although not at the same time!)
- oriental theme fits well with clients’ philosophy, style prefences & requirement for low maintenance garden
- four functional zones: grass garden with stepping stone path around existing mature apple tree; gravel garden with granite bridge over dry creek of polished pebbles, leading to meditation garden with bubbling water feature & granite bench; woodland play zone with wooden mushroom seating & large mirrorson on fence for light & fun
- informal seating area provides area for adult relaxation whilst the children play
- black-stained woodwork contrasts well with silver grey granite, pea gravel & cobbles & enhances the intense greens of the bamboo & cloud-pruned tree
- black-stained shed recedes into background (see ‘before’ photo for evidence)
- shrub planting provides interest throughout the year with spring bulbs around the apple tree for early spring zing
- garden constructed by www.karegardens.com
