Corner plot garden requiring a facelift

  • client downsized to modern estate house from an older rural property
  • new layout to make best use of all areas, reduce amount of lawn, create new plant borders & include a summerhouse
  • problem areas: planting too close to house making window maintenance difficult; lack of interest in sloping side garden; insufficient hard landscaping & planted areas in rear garden
  • new design: curving, sunken path & informal seating area teamed with deep planting areas to create interest in side garden (also enjoyed from the main living area of  house)
  • at the rear, large new patio connects french door & back door & leads into wide gravel utility area for drying washing/potting
  • new wider, deeper steps have improved the access from house
  • new summerhouse sits in sunken area at the far end of  rear garden, with raised planting providing visual screen in mid-summer; deep curving mixed  borders soften boundary & provide colour/interest throughout the year
  • front garden simplified by replacing turf with decorative gravel & upgrading the planting in the existing feature bed
  • garden constructed by
  • open as part of Abernethy Open Gardens 2017/18 (see blog)

“I consider that I was very lucky to have found your website and you!  A very sincere thank you doesn’t seem adequate but hopefully you have enjoyed seeing your design come to life and be appreciated by this client very much.”
